11 HOUSEHOLDER PASS and BOULDER DAM AREA
(on US 93 between Kingman, AZ and
Boulder Dam)
If you are traveling north on US 93
from Kingman to Boulder Dam, the last 16 miles before reaching the dam are a
roller coaster ride. There are uphill
grades and downhill grades that range from 2% to 6%. The last 6 miles, starting at milepost 6½ are mostly 5-6%
descent. The road becomes curvy and
steep near the dam with 15 and 25 mph curves as you turn onto the dam. Going from Boulder City, Nevada toward the
dam there is a hill about 3 miles long at 4-5% and then the grade eases for
about a mile before going to 5-6% the last 2 miles to the dam. There are 15 mph curves near the bottom of
the hill.
